RapiTrimTM systems enable volume production trim and test using flying probe technology for advanced hybrid circuits and embedded passives.
Through the use of proprietary fixtureless technology, probe cards and their inherent limitations are eliminated. Restrictions on design layout are lifted, and operational delays waiting for probe cards are removed.
Circuit designers are no longer limited by the practical size and density of probe card designs:
Circuits can be as large as the substrate itself
Probing of dense designs is effortless - this previously required multiple passes with multiple probe cards
Four independent flying probes - any component location, size, orientation and layout can be accommodated
RapiTrim systems can function as stand-alone testers, improving ROI.
Two machine formats are available, the RapiTrim-CTM for hybrid circuits, and the large format RapiTrim for full-size PCB panels. Both the RapiTrim and RapiTrim-C have the option for full automation.
Further, both systems use the same high reliability IR fiber laser, or an optional green laser (532nm) for thin film processing or UV laser (355nm) for thin film trimming or general drilling and cutting capability in a variety of materials.

Complete automation allows for trays of panels to be loaded into the system (side pods shown above and detail left). Panels are loaded by vacuum pickup with configurable pickup vacuum zones.

Barcode or 2-D matrix code reading
Used for panel identification, and can be manual or automated.
Automated probe tip changing
Anytime a change in probe tips is required, the current set (one or all) can be unloaded into an empty holder and fresh tips loaded from an adjacent holder. Probes are automatically calibrated and trimming can resume, all without operator handling.
Networking software with automatic file retrieval and job creation
The system can even accommodate a tray of mixed panels, using optional OCR or barcode to read panel ID and load the appropriate job from files on the system or network.
